Getting to know Marc McDowell

Once you've decided to ask for professional help, you need to find a therapist that feels right for you. I offer a holistic and intuitive focus to my work with adult individuals and couples of all ages, providing a warm and professional space to work through your current challenges. Every person has a unique set of strengths and weaknesses, and my commitment is to help you find your own unique truth. Whether you're seeking support through a challenging time or want to move forward in a new direction, my goal is to help you uncover your potential and grow into a life that is authentically yours. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Ohio State University and over 25 years of experience counseling in oncology, emergency, and hospice medical settings, while providing psychotherapy to adults and couples in private practice. I also hold a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. I have a particular interest in holistic mind-body medicine, focusing on emotional and mental approaches to wellness in an individualized, common-sense, and accessible way. I am a long-time yoga practitioner and discovered mindfulness meditation during a 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013. Since then, I helped establish and continue to facilitate a Mindfulness wellness program for medical professionals, including CEU programs and workshops for nurses and social workers, as well as monthly lectures for University of South Florida Internal Medicine residents and medical students. I also lecture on mindfulness and emotional well-being for cancer survivorship community events and workshops. I particularly welcome clients with prior counseling experience or a history of exploring personal growth. I also welcome healthcare professionals experiencing empathy fatigue and burnout. I look forward to helping you with the next leg of your personal journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal as a therapist is to provide a meaningful connection to help you increase your self-awareness and personal autonomy in the world around you. This starts by helping you to broaden and clarify your awareness of the difficulties you are having as we clarify the goals that you choose to set. We will then collaborate to identify the emotional and mental tools that feel the most natural and usable to empower you in achieving your goals. There are many paths to resolving one’s personal issues and I will support you on the unique path that you chose.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
