“Maggie Beier Grzeskowiak is wonderful. I’m so glad that I found her. I’m looking forward to continuing therapy with her. I felt relieved after my first time seeing her. She made everything easy. She’s easy to talk to. She was extremely kind, and also very professional. I was nervous to try a new therapist and had been putting off looking for one. I am really glad that I finally did it. It couldn’t have gone smoother.”

Getting to know Margaret Beier Grzeskowiak

Please be aware: I am not a medication-prescribing provider and am unable to write or manage prescriptions. My sessions focus on psychotherapy — helping clients understand patterns, build self-trust, and create real, lasting change. I’m Maggie, a trauma-informed therapist who works with people who are done pretending they’re fine. My background is in trauma, EMDR, anxiety, burnout, and the kind of emotional overload that builds up when you’ve been holding things together for way too long. I’ve spent years helping people sort through the patterns, triggers, and survival strategies that once kept them safe but now keep them stuck. My approach is straightforward: show up as you are: overwhelmed, shut down, anxious, angry, confused, or numb. I actually want to understand what’s going on underneath the surface, not just the version you’ve been trained to show the world. I use practical tools that help you get your footing when life feels chaotic. I’m not the therapist who sits silently and watches you struggle through a monologue. I’m engaged, present, and honest. If something feels off, I’ll say it. If something needs slowing down, we slow down. We go at a pace your nervous system can handle, and we build trust over time — not by forcing it, but by showing up consistently. I work with adults of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ clients, trauma survivors, and high-functioning people who feel like they’re barely hanging on behind closed doors. If you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, relationship stress, burnout, panic, dissociation, or that constant “I can’t keep living like this” feeling, you’re not alone — and you’re exactly who I help. If you’re looking for therapy that’s real, steady, down-to-earth, and actually helpful in the mess of everyday life, I’m here. When you’re ready, book a session, and we’ll start figuring this out together — one honest step at a time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Here’s the deal: working with me is real, honest, and human. I’m not here to watch you talk for 45 minutes and then say “hmm.” I’m in it with you. I ask questions, I point things out, I get curious, and I don’t dance around the stuff that’s clearly hurting you. You don’t have to show up put together. You don’t need a perfect explanation for why you feel the way you do. You can come in pissed off, shut down, overwhelmed, numb, embarrassed, confused — whatever. I’ve seen it. I’ve sat with people in all kinds of pain. You won’t scare me off. I’m straightforward. I’ll tell you when something doesn’t line up. I’ll ask about the things you avoid. I’ll slow you down when you’re spiraling. And I’ll sit with you if all you can do that day is breathe and try not to fall apart. I’m not here to judge you — I’m here to understand you and help you understand yourself. You should also know that therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. We’re not slapping Band-Aids on bullet holes. We go at a pace that makes sense for your nervous system. Some sessions are heavy, some are quiet, some feel like digging through rubble. That’s normal. That’s how real work goes. What you will get: A therapist who actually pays attention Someone who won’t bullshit you Someone who respects your boundaries and your pace Tools you can actually use at 2am when your brain won’t shut up A space where you’re allowed to be messy, contradictory, anxious, angry, or unsure Someone who believes you deserve a life that doesn’t feel like constant survival mode If you’re coming in feeling burnt out, on edge, disconnected, or like you’re one small thing away from losing it — you’re not alone. That’s exactly the kind of stuff we work on together. Just show up as you are. I’ll meet you there, no judgment, no pressure. We’ll figure it out one step at a time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me is straightforward and human. You don’t need a polished update or a neatly organized story — most people walk in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, irritated, shut down, or just tired of holding it together, and that’s exactly where we start. My focus is on what’s actually happening underneath the surface: the patterns, triggers, stress responses, and stuck places that keep showing up in your life. We make sense of it together in real time. From there, the process usually includes a mix of three things: 1. Stabilizing your nervous system. Before we dig into trauma or old wounds, we make sure you have tools that help you feel grounded and safer in your own body. These are practical skills you can use outside session when things hit hard. 2. Getting to the root. When you’re ready — and only then — we go deeper. That might look like EMDR, somatic work, or exploring the things you’ve avoided because they’ve felt too heavy or overwhelming. We take it at a pace you can actually tolerate. 3. Building something stronger. We work on creating a life that isn’t ruled by survival mode. That means learning boundaries, reshaping patterns, getting better at emotional regulation, and figuring out what “better” genuinely looks like for you. A typical session is honest, steady, and flexible. Some days you’ll talk a lot; other days we might sit with something heavy or slow everything down so your system can breathe. There’s no performance here — just real work, at a pace that respects what you’ve lived through. Show up as you are, and I’ll meet you there. We’ll take it step by step.

Without exaggeration, Maggie is hands down one of the best therapists I’ve ever seen. For months, she has consistently gone above and beyond for my loved one’s mental health, and even for myself. And throughout our time working with Maggie, she has been nothing but kind, considerate, compassionate and accommodating both during our sessions and outside of her office hours as well. Finding and picking a therapist can be daunting. So, if you’re feeling hesitant, I can confidently say that Maggie is the best choice you can make. It is clear that this practice is more than just a job to her. And her effort and dedication set the bar for how mental health services should be, and I cannot recommend her enough.
Thank you so much! I truly mean it when I say that I credit you for so much of my success, I remember the very first session, and how much of a wreck I was. Because of your kindness I found a safe place to finally let go of so much that has burdened me! Thank you for saving my life!
Within my first session with Maggie, I felt instantly comfortable and in a safe space with her. Between feeling genuinely listened to and being actually heard for the first time in all of my therapy experiences, I would highly recommend Minds in Motion with Maggie to anyone I know. Life changing would be an absolute understatement!
Maggie has been a lifesaver for me on my mental health journey. She is patient, compassionate and non-judgmental. I cannot recommend her enough!
