Margaret Jones, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
As a trauma-informed therapist with a background in both military service and mental health care, I’m deeply committed to walking alongside clients on their journey toward healing and clarity. I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety, mood disorders, substance use, and the complex layers of trauma, including PTSD and childhood trauma. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and integrative—while I often lean into Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), I tailor each session based on what works best for the individual. Having served in the United States Air Force for 8 years, I also hold a deep respect and understanding for the unique experiences of veterans and first responders. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move through life’s challenges with resilience and intention.

Getting to know Margaret Jones

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe healing happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported. As your therapist, I show up with authenticity, compassion, and curiosity. You can expect a direct but empathetic approach—I’ll listen carefully to what you bring into the room, and we’ll collaborate on identifying what’s truly going on beneath the surface. My clients appreciate that I hold space for difficult truths while also gently challenging unhelpful patterns. I understand that anxiety, trauma, and substance use are often layered and complex, and we’ll work together to unpack those layers at a pace that honors your story. Therapy is your space—and I’m here to walk with you, not ahead of you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, I’ll focus on getting to know you—your story, your goals, and the experiences that have shaped who you are today. We’ll talk through what’s bringing you to therapy and begin identifying patterns that may be contributing to your current challenges. My sessions are structured but flexible. I draw from REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy), which helps explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At the same time, I use an integrative approach—meaning I’ll incorporate other tools and techniques based on your unique needs and preferences. For many clients, especially those navigating trauma, we may also explore body awareness, coping skills, or narrative work to help you reconnect with your sense of safety and self. Whether you come in for anxiety, trauma, or just feeling stuck, I’ll work with you to create a plan that feels manageable, empowering, and supportive of your growth.
