Getting to know Margaret Sciuva

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina with over twenty years of counseling experience helping individuals, families, and couples with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I earned my bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University and my master’s degree in counseling from Webster University. I believe that taking the first step toward counseling is an act of courage, best captured in the quote, “Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us.” -David Richo. I believe the strongest collaboration between client and therapist is built on deep respect, caring, and authenticity. Wherever you are in your journey, I want to meet you there and provide a comfortable, safe space for you to reflect, share, grow, and explore paths that support healing and help you build your best life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is to meet clients where they are and build a strong rapport so we can collaborate as a team in their care. This open communication and support helps create the positive, safe space clients need with their therapist.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet for the first time as a team. We use this session to identify what is bringing you to therapy and your primary concerns, and we will also discuss your goals for treatment. I will complete an initial assessment during this time to gather history that supports your care. We will also talk through your preferences for appointment days and times that work with your schedule, and I will answer any questions you may have about therapy. I am looking forward to taking this first step with you!
