Getting to know Maria Munoz

As a compassionate and dedicated clincian, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, individuals, and couples. My goal is to create a supportive and safe space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, build resilience, and develop meaningful strategies for growth and healing. Whether you or your loved one is facing life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, or behavioral concerns, I tailor each session to meet your unique needs. Together, we’ll work toward greater understanding, emotional well-being, and lasting positive change. (Due to current Colorado state regulations, I am unable to accept clients who are covered by Medicaid, even if they choose to pay privately out of pocket)

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I utilize a person-centered approach that honors each client’s individual experience and autonomy. I integrate techniques from narrative therapy to help clients re-author their personal stories, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore and harmonize parts of the self, and play therapy to support emotional expression and healing in children. When working with couples, I use the Gottman Method to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and foster deeper connection. This evidence-based approach helps partners break negative cycles and build a more supportive, emotionally intelligent relationship. Clients can expect a supportive and engaging environment where they are met with empathy, curiosity, and a focus on their strengths. Together, we’ll work toward greater self-awareness, emotional well-being, and lasting positive change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We typically begin with an intake session to gather background, understand current concerns, and set goals. From there, we meet weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs and preferences. Each session is a collaborative space where we work together to promote insight, healing, and meaningful progress.
