Hi there, I'm Maria! My name is Maria Nowlin. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Music Therapist, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I hold a Master's in Counseling and Development and a Master's in Music Therapy, both from Texas Woman's University. My practice specialty includes maternal mental health and trauma. My approach I take an eclectic approach to therapy to find the best fit for each client. I often pull from Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am also trained in BrainSpotting, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR. My focus I work with moms in all aspects of the motherhood journey. This can look like postpartum anxiety or depression, struggles with infertility, feeling overwhelmed with daily tasks, having no time for self-care, or parenting struggles. I also work with adults who have experienced trauma or are struggling to overcome complex trauma. My communication style I will be authentic with you in session. I like to think I strike a good balance of being gentle and compassionate while also being straightforward. I hope to provide a safe space for my clients free from judgment and full of acceptance. My goals for you Goal setting is collaborative, and I truly believe my clients are the experts in their lives. My job is to support you on your journey to achieving your goals. My first session with you Our first session together will be an opportunity for you to share what you are struggling with. I may ask a few questions to help get a better understanding of what you are feeling or experiencing.
