Mariah Ramos, APCC

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, I'm Mariah! Therapy with me is real, human, and unapologetically yourself and helpful. I bring warmth, honesty, and a no-judgment space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy thoughts and all. But we’re not just talking… we’re moving you forward. I hold a PhD in Psychology, Public Policy, and Law, and a Master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from CSU Fresno. I’m currently practicing as an APCC [Associate Practicing Clinical Counselor] on the path to full licensure at Resilient Heart Therapy under the supervision of Theresa Brown, LMFT. My style is collaborative, grounded, and practical. We’ll build self-awareness, understand your patterns, regulate your emotions, and create real-life steps you can actually use outside of session. It’s a space to feel safe—and a space to grow. If you’re overwhelmed or don’t know where to start, that’s okay. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I’ll meet you where you are and walk with you through it—every step of the way.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m passionate about helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of their next steps. I work frequently with young adults navigating life transitions, identity development, relationship challenges, vocational stress, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I work hard to ensure clients not only feel understood — but also leave sessions with clarity, direction, and tools they can use. Therapy with me is both a safe place to process and a supportive space to grow. If you’re struggling, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’m here to walk alongside you and help you feel stronger, steadier, and more confident in your path forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we first start working together, I focus on getting to know you. I want to understand why you’re coming to therapy, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope might feel different. We’ll talk about your life — what brings you joy, what brings you stress or sadness, and what feels most important right now. I move at your pace. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. Building trust and comfort is important to me. As we meet weekly, I begin to notice patterns, strengths, and areas that may need support. Together, we identify goals — whether that’s managing anxiety, improving relationships, building confidence, or navigating a life transition. I always have a general plan in mind based on your needs, but I also pay attention to what comes up naturally in our sessions. Sometimes what feels most important shifts, and we adjust. Therapy with me is collaborative. We create clear goals and practical steps, but we also leave space for real-life experiences and emotions as they arise.
