Hi there, I'm Marilyn! My name is Marilyn Terhune-Young, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Grass Valley, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I have over 20 years of experience specializing in anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and overall life challenges. My approach is humanistic and client-centered. My background is psychodynamic, and my approach is insight-oriented. I believe that looking at the past is helpful in understanding current life problems and working toward a more positive future. My approach varies depending on the client's needs. Interventions may include narrative therapy, creative arts therapy, and mindfulness. My journey to therapy began during a personal crisis marked by anxiety and depression. With the help of a therapist, I learned to manage my stress and address deeper issues that were blocking me from creating a better life. Inspired by this experience, I decided to devote my life to helping others in the same way. I enrolled in graduate school, earning a Master's in Counseling Psychology from La Sierra University, and later completed my PhD in Psychology at Saybrook University, beginning my training as a therapist.
