Marina Swenson, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California with a Master's in Counseling from Palo Alto University. I'm dedicated to helping individuals navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and the many transitions life throws our way. My approach combines various modalities such as client-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), holistic, and mindfulness-based therapies to empower individuals to understand their thoughts and feelings. I enjoy working with high-functioning teens and young adults and treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, women's issues, and life transitions. Together, we will work on building skills to manage overwhelming emotions, develop coping strategies, and discover a sense of inner peace. My communication style is calm, comforting, and inviting. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you can express yourself freely and explore your experiences without judgment. I chose a therapist career because I've always had a desire to help others navigate life's challenges and improve their well-being. I've benefited greatly from my personal therapy and believe that healing is possible for anyone. We will start by discussing what goals you want to achieve and building trust and rapport between us. Over time, we will develop an action plan and do frequent check-ins to track your progress. In our first session, I will explain my approach to therapy and focus on building a connection with you. I will ask you questions to better understand what brought you to therapy and we can determine if I'm a good fit for you.
