Getting to know Marla Starnes

As a mom who is continuously striving to find balance in this modern world, I combine my fourteen years of experience as a clinical social worker with my real-life experiences of being a working mom. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Central Florida. I have experience treating a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and trauma. As a mom to three little ones, I am also in the trenches of figuring out this parenting journey. My approach is best described as a combination of validating your emotions and helping you find new ways to cope and juggle life as it is ever-changing. I have extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I accept United Healthcare, Oscar Health, Oxford, and Aetna insurances. I can also provide a superbill for those wanting to use out-of-network benefits. I look forward to hearing from you and learning how I can help you heal.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to meet my client where they are at. It is important to my that clients feel supported, as well as motivated to make positive changes in their lives. I am very down to earth and relatable. I also like to use humor as therapy can be heavy at times.
