Martinette Douglas, MA

Martinette Douglas, MA

Psychotherapist
IL
I am originally from South Africa. I moved to Chicago, joined the United States Navy, served 4 years on active duty, and another 7 years as a reservist. I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and my Master's in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Since obtaining my master's degree, I have mostly enjoyed helping people in the correctional field. I have experience treating self-esteem issues, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, suicidal ideation, coping, PTSD, and trauma-related conditions. I also have additional experience using animal-assisted therapy. I use evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy with well-integrated approaches to achieve optimal health and wellness. I have personal experience as an immigrant, a member of the United States military, and vast knowledge of the issues faced by individuals in corrections. Facing such challenges has given me a deeper understanding of how to treat individuals who face difficult times, whether in or out of prison. I am very empathic but direct. I build rapport quickly and focus on goals to obtain results as efficiently as possible. I believe in hard work, dedication, and finding methods that fit each of my clients' lifestyles and interests. I am licensed in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Delaware, and Alaska. I look forward to working with you and finding ways to address whatever situation you currently face. Together, we can find a solution and help you achieve your better self.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
