Hi, I’m Marvida Lake, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I provide a safe, culturally affirming space for individuals and families—especially those from underserved communities, the LGBTQ+ community, and military backgrounds—to explore their experiences, heal from trauma, and reconnect with their strengths.
My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and deeply person-centered. I specialize in family dynamics, identity development, anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach is goal-focused and holistic, honoring the connection between mind, body, and spirit. I believe that true healing happens when therapy is culturally relevant, collaborative, and grounded in both clinical expertise and authentic human connection.
I use evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, and I partner closely with clients to co-create practical, meaningful interventions tailored to their needs. I’m passionate about helping clients break generational cycles, manage stress, and build lasting resilience.
My educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology from North Carolina A&T State University and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Bowie State University. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC), awarded by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
