Getting to know Mary Baez

Hi, my name is Mary Baez, therapist. I am licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist, license number 48302. I have been in the mental health field for 16 years. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. My first concern is building rapport and trust with clients. My approach is holistic and eclectic, addressing the mind-body connection in mental health and tailoring interventions to individual needs. My approach I am client-centered, listening to clients' concerns and asking open-ended questions to collaborate on therapy goals. I often use cognitive interventions to help clients examine thought processes and find more positive ways of thinking, leading to positive outcomes. My focus I work well with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma. I assist clients in resolving personal and business relationship issues. I am motivational and successful in raising self-awareness, allowing clients to reach their full potential. Reflecting on this helped me realize I was a role model without realizing it. My communication style I create a calm, non-judgmental atmosphere for clients to sort through thoughts and feelings collaboratively to develop effective interventions. Clients often say they feel heard and understood. Some light-hearted humor is included when appropriate. My journey to therapy My first "aha moment" was volunteering as a youth counselor in college. I ran a group of young girls, and one day I gave a stranded girl a ride home. When I walked her to the front door, I was warmly welcomed into the home.
