Mary Baker, LCSW

Mary Baker, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
I have been in the field for the past 12 years and have had the privilege of working with many different communities. I hold a Master's in Social Work from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. I have extensive experience with trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, identity development (sexual and gender), relationship issues, domestic violence, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I have worked on a college campus and am well versed in ADHD, Autism, and academic challenges as well. I have loved my work with the LGBTQ community and have supported many through their transition. I have been honored to work with survivors of assault and sexual trauma. This work also extends to religious trauma and abuse (physical, emotional). I believe small changes can make a significant impact and am excited to help people navigate these changes. I am straightforward and direct with my clients and enjoy working with those motivated to improve their lives. I know it is not easy to reach out for help, and I appreciate that clients allow me the opportunity to support them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session is gathering all the information and getting to know the client. We will identify goals for therapy and establish a plan to get to that goal. I have been known to assign some homework initially so I can gather more information and also exercises to do at home to improve daily functioning and mood. We will check in on our progress towards the goals regularly and adjust accordingly.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
