“Mary is the kindest, most understanding therapist I have ever met. I had several therapists throughout the years, but what sets her apart is that she believes in the strength of all her patients. She truly believes in you and that you can do it. She is just there to help you with it. If you want a therapist who will encourage you and speak to you kindly, Mary is the one for you.”

Getting to know Mary Carter

Hi there-I'm Mary Carter, LMFT. It is my privilege to define my place in such a dynamic field! Along with my professional background in clinical psychology, I hold a Master's in Behavioral Science and Psychology from California Baptist University. To that, I add a holistic approach in therapy, and at the core of my approach is imparting unconditional positive regard, as each individual is unique. I start at a place of unconditional acceptance where there is no judgment, and a collaborative endeavor is made to heal, assist, and help restore each individual to a safe place to be complete and whole! Many of us have faced many challenges in life-we have been unwilling victims, survivors, but much more than that, we are overcomers. Having fought the “good fight,” with renewed strength and a sense of purpose, we now start our new journey with purpose! Pablo Picasso stated, “The meaning of life is to find your gift-the purpose of life is to give it away.” I work with all populations, providing evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy. I provide my clients with a safe and non-judgmental space to be transparent about their struggles. Many of my patients have experienced struggles with anxiety, depression, overcoming grief and loss of a loved one, as well as facing anticipatory grief. I can relate on a personal level as well as a professional level with survivors who have been impacted by suicide and assist with sharing, processing, managing unresolved guilt, and finding healing!

It was an okay experience but I would not see her again. It felt like she was the one doing all the talking and was generalizing people's behavior to an extreme. Was moving too fast and telling me exactly what I should be doing to in the first 40 minutes of knowing each other.
