Hi there, I'm Mary! My name is Mary Frieburger, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in New Bedford, Massachusetts, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Rhode Island College. As a clinical social worker, my emphasis is on the whole person, empowerment, and self-determination. My approach My practice is informed by a Humanistic and Strength-Based approach that focuses on the abilities and skills of my clients as a means to resolve the problems they face. I tailor my approach to the needs and preferences of my clients because I believe they should drive the therapeutic process. I have found that my approach is best for clients seeking a clinician to guide and support them through their healing journey rather than giving directives. I have experience treating clients with depression, anxiety, interpersonal problems, self-esteem issues, and histories of trauma. My communication style I am an active and empathetic listener who focuses on the strengths of others rather than their problems. I have a non-judgmental approach that recognizes the universal struggles we all face as part of the human experience, and I pride myself on ensuring my clients feel heard and understood. My journey to mental healthcare In a way, I have always been a therapist. Throughout my life, I have been the person to counsel and support those around me, which is what drew me to social work.
