Getting to know Mary (Katie) Romley
Hello! I'm Mary "Katie" Romley. I'm an LPCC in the state of California specializing in individual therapy services and group counseling.
Do you ever feel like because of certain life experiences, you struggle in your daily life or relationships today? I enjoy helping people to find more of a sense of safety, within themselves. I like to make sure that my clients can develop a sense of trust when working with me. I love working with young adults (18-25) and also people going through retirement life changes.
Some of the topics I enjoy helping clients with career counseling and coaching, personal relationships, self-concept and self-esteem, healing from abuse, and working with and fully supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. I also love working with people to strengthen their own personal boundaries in life.
*Please note that any requests for additional administrative services like letters to courts of law, disability certification, fitness to return to work or other activities and special accommodations related to a psychological condition will need to be cleared with this therapist ahead of starting work together or will have to be provided by another mental health provider. Please consult this therapist first to see if she's able to provide this documentation for you as some may not be possible due to training and specialization requirements.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Clients can expect to feel heard and supported. I provide a thoughtful perspective for folks to experience growth, development and change. If clients are interested, I love providing resources and tools for enhanced opportunities to develop self-knowledge in between sessions. I've been described as having warm, positive and kind energy, with a touch of humor to keep things fun/lighthearted at times.
In-network insurances
More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Katie is incredibly understanding about my issues. I feel respected. Katie is humorous and light, but also compassionate. She has depth and strength enough to hold space for intense pain with care and patience. She asks illuminating questions -- not just for clarification, but to help me think about things in a different way. Her questions and insights often make me feel more empowered.

I have loved my sessions with Katie! It's been so much like chatting with a friend, which is just what I needed as this has been my first experience with therapy. She's very kind and empowering and makes me feel like I can handle whatever life throws at me - and if I can't handle it, she'll equip me with the tools I may need to grow.

My child says he doesn't want to be in therapy, but sees the value each time he has a session and then asks for another appointment. Teenager years are hard and we are thankful for such a compassionate therapist that can help him work through things.
