Getting to know Mary Montero
Hello, I'm glad you're here! In our work together, we will talk, explore your challenges, process trauma, collaborate on solutions, and probably laugh. With over 23 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and organizations, I have developed a therapy style that combines several approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, narrative, and EMDR. My specialties include life transitions, relationships, trauma, depression, anxiety, and parenting. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Florida International University and a Bachelor's degree from Boston University. My commitment is to build a warm relationship with you, where you feel safe and supported. I look forward to meeting you. Please note the time zone when scheduling a session, as I am currently EST.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I aim for you to leave our very first session with a sense of hope. Depending on your unique needs, I might combine talk therapy (actively listening, helping you gain understanding or see something in a new way, exploring your hopes for something different and how to get there, etc.) with skills-building (exercises to do outside of therapy to, for example, shift thinking patterns, improve mood, or solve relationship problems).
