Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, my name is Mary Wilson and I look forward to connecting with you! I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Texas and a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and certified domestic violence professional (CDVP) in Illinois. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University in Chicago. I view sessions as an opportunity to have an honest, direct, and intentional conversation allowing you to work on personal goals and live authentically. Sessions are collaborative and go at the pace you feel most comfortable. My approach I view the client as a whole person and identify with holistic healing: helping clients find well-being in mind, body, and spirit. Each person I work with could benefit from various approaches. I utilize several theoretical approaches including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Jungian. My focus I typically collaborate with clients who are goal- and action-oriented, ready to take an active approach in counseling both inside and outside sessions. Primarily, I focus on clients experiencing anxiety, major life transitions, domestic violence, and those exploring identity. My communication style My goal is to create a warm, open, and direct dialogue where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves without needing to edit. My journey to therapy My passion is helping people during moments that require an accepting and listening ear. My counseling work began facilitating groups for men convicted of domestic violence/assault. I believe anyone ready to change, grow, or heal and take an honest, active approach is capable. They just need the right tools, and my passion is creatively helping clients discover them. My goals for you Starting with defining long-term, big-picture goals, I help clients break them down into manageable, present-moment steps.
