Getting to know Matthew Butler

I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida and 7 years of experience working as a counselor. I have worked with clients presenting a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, substance use, parenting struggles, and general relationship problems. I have experience working with adults and children ages 5-17. My therapeutic style is a blend of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic theory, and I am proficient in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and interpersonal psychotherapy. My job as a clinician is to tailor our sessions to what you need. I'm excited you're taking steps toward change and look forward to our work together!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will primarily focus on discussing what's brought you into seeking talk therapy, and identifying an outline for treatment goals. As we progress, the goals we set can be adjusted as needed. A strong benefit of talk therapy is that it is incredibly versatile. You might find some days you're looking for direct feedback, and other days you may need more process-focused attention.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
