“This guy has been there for me at some of my lowest points and helped me build the tools to actually support myself, not just lean on him. He brings real knowledge and experience, but what stands out most is he‚Äôs real‚Äî collaborative on goals, chill, and not afraid to push you when you need it. Thanks again!”

Getting to know Matthew Duarte

Hi there, I'm Matthew! Hello, I'm Matthew Duarte, a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed professional clinical counselor based in Southern California. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton. I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I believe every individual and relationship has the capacity for change and healing. With a warm, non-judgmental approach, I work with individuals dealing with issues including anxiety, life transitions, and personal growth using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. My approach I use a non-judgmental, client-centered approach that creates a comfortable place for you to explore your experiences. I utilize evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), positive parenting, and mindfulness-based practices to help you create the life you deserve. Not one approach fits all, so I adapt to what you need. My focus Besides my passion for working with parents struggling with their child(ren) or juggling life’s demands, my style generally fits adolescents, young, and older adults. I help clients navigate challenges related to anxiety, mild or moderate depression, “adulting,” caregiver stress, anger management, life transitions, work/life balance, grief, parenting issues, and more. My communication style I strive to create an environment where you can be yourself. I have a down-to-earth approach, using humor when appropriate while also connecting with deeper meaning. When I’m direct, it’s with sincere compassion and curiosity to help you be open to new perspectives and gain skills to get back on your chosen path.
