What should a new client know about working with you?

For me, the ideal client comes motivated and seeking change in their life. The focus is on the client and what they would like to change. It could be relationship issues, communication, self-esteem/self-confidence, or a variety of other issues, as long as they are willing to change things. I think most clients may come in with a misunderstanding that we are responsible for their change, in actuality it is they who use the tools given. The client should be allowed to establish their own goals, big or small. The client is usually in a need of support, listening, and understanding. Change is powerful and up to the client.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have 10 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of diagnoses and settings. I specialize in trauma care and emotional regulation. I have training in TF-CBT and also mindfulness skills. I am licensed by the State of Texas and Colorado as an LPC. The first few session we will get to know each other and build some trust. We then will get into the major issues that brought you to therapy and start working on solutions form the beginning. I believe that you can never have to much information, because it is how we learn to work with those around us and the environment that we are in. Therapy is not an easy process and takes work, but the rewards on the other side can be worth the investment within yourself.

He sent me nine text messages and numerous emails demanding payment without charging my Cigna Healthsprings Medicare advantage plan insurance, which I had already provided to him??!

He might be good at what he does but he does lack communication in aspects of what going on in a situation. I felt talked down to by him when my card was deleting for some reason on headway. "I waited for you to fix the information in Headway so I could have the session. I have tried to communicate with you, but you have not bothered to respond" When I did fix it he said "Thank you. I do not understand why you continue to do this, now the 2nd time. I do not want to have to put time in having to bother you like this. I will talk to you next week sir. Take care." We are already seeking help and being vulnerable. After I fixed it he should have said thanks for fixing it and we can continue next week, But no he clearly has no problem with continue on poking the patient futher. It was headway that deleted my cars because I have seen him 3 times before this session and I already and to fix my card once before.
