Matthew Keck, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) specializing in eating disorders. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I have treated eating disorders for 15 years and founded Cielo House Eating Disorder Treatment Centers, a nationally recognized group of programs. Despite my experience, I treat each client as unique and never assume I know more than they do about themselves. I earned my PsyD from Ryokan College, my Master’s in Counseling from the University of San Francisco, and my Bachelor’s from Boston College. My therapeutic approach is integrative and personalized. I primarily use evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), but draw from all helpful modalities for eating disorders. I come from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective, focusing on what is right with you rather than what feels wrong. I am positive, encouraging, and direct when needed. Your time is valuable, so we begin healing and progress quickly. I work almost exclusively with clients struggling with eating disorders—my wheelhouse with deep expertise. However, I rarely see clients with only an eating disorder; there is almost always more going on. I am capable of treating a wide range of mental health challenges and rarely feel overwhelmed. My communication style is warm, collaborative, and encouraging. I use positivity and humor, including the occasional Dad joke, when appropriate. Yet, I remain reverent and understand the seriousness of what you bring to therapy.
