CA
My name is Max Sleep-Frankel, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago. I am also certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Grief Informed Professional (CGP). I have extensive experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities as they navigate life transitions. My approach to therapy is to serve as a guide to help you accomplish your personal goals and live a more enriched life. My approach I am person-centered, meaning the client is in the driver’s seat, and I serve as a guide to help them reach their goals and align behaviors with values. I take an eclectic approach individualized for each client, primarily drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). My focus I have worked with older adults and adults with disabilities navigating losses such as retirement, bereavement, loss of physical and cognitive functioning, and changes of residence. With 10 years of experience, I have worked with adults of all ages, mental health disorders, and addictions. My communication style Every patient deserves a warm, welcoming, empathetic, and non-judgmental space to share struggles and successes and feel empowered to accomplish their goals and live a meaningful life. My journey to mental healthcare As a college student struggling to find my place, I met a therapist who profoundly impacted my life and career and ignited my passion to become a therapist. I began direct practice volunteering in hospice, meeting patients one-on-one to discuss the tough emotions surrounding death. I cherished those intimate conversations and being a support to them.
