Getting to know Maya Butler
People seek out therapy for different reasons, and I believe it often comes from a desire to live at your highest potential. Life is a journey filled with experiences that can impact us in both good and challenging ways, and they can shape how much joy, peace, love, purpose, and meaning we feel in our lives. As a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor, I support individuals, couples, and families in building stronger relationships and healing from mental health concerns, addiction, life stress, and trauma. I work to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and I am honored to support you however I can.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach to care as a Professional Counselor is taking great joy in being able to assist individuals in creating personal wholeness and authenticity through patience, empowerment, and encouragement. In each therapy session, I thoroughly enjoy supporting individuals in exploring their lived experiences and the emotions connected to them. I utilize a combination of evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Systemic Family Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My personal goal as a therapist is to support you as we work together to create and maintain what you desire for yourself. In our initial session, we’ll take time to identify who you desire to be and how to create the life changes you hope for. Once we’ve identified the core areas you prefer to focus on, we’ll create goals centered around these areas to expand on in each subsequent therapy session. Toward the end of the session, we’ll review your treatment plan and explore the most appropriate cadence for therapy sessions to support your emotional well-being.
