Getting to know Mayra Alvarez

Hi, my name is Mayra and I'm a licensed master social worker (LMSW). I have 10 years of experience working with children and families. I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University and Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University. I believe therapy is a space where you can pause, feel heard, and begin to make sense of the experiences that have shaped you. My therapeutic style is warm, inclusive, and based on the idea that you are the expert on your own experience. I utilize an integrative approach to care, drawing from Mindfulness-Based interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to meet the unique needs of each person. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel understood.
