Mazu Master, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Mazu! I have over 20 years of clinical experience and have come to believe that fostering a trusting and compassionate therapeutic relationship can help us feel empowered and confident in our own healthy sense of self. As a South Asian/Indian woman who identifies as a person of color and within the LGBTQIA+ community, I recognize the need for folks to have a therapist who understands these issues. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My approach I believe it is imperative that therapy be a space that is safe, non-judgmental, and client-centered. My approach to therapy is collaborative, strength-based, and solution-focused, incorporating any theoretical orientation that best meets the needs of my client. My focus I work collaboratively with individual adults who are struggling with a variety of issues, such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, PTSD, LGBTQIA+ issues, racial identity/trauma, and cultural concerns. My communication style My goal is always to make clients feel comfortable and to build a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship. To that end, I do my best to create a safe environment by being open, honest, and compassionate. My journey to mental healthcare I was attracted to this career at a very young age, decided to pursue my dream of becoming a psychotherapist, and have never looked back. I'm always curious about my clients' stories, including their strengths and challenges. I am driven by helping people and am honored when clients share their very personal stories with me. My goals for you I collaborate with my clients to create realistic, doable goals that address their concerns and needs. My first session with you I like to start sessions by getting to know my client and understanding what brings them to therapy. I also spend time introducing myself and my background.
