Megan Elliott, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Megan Elliott, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master’s in Counseling from Holy Names University. I believe therapy is most successful when a healthy alliance is formed between the therapist and the client. My goal is to create a safe space for clients to bring whatever is most pressing for them and to support them in developing tools to manage the challenges and stressors they may be experiencing. I am trauma-focused in my training and have experience working with anxiety, panic, and depression. My approach I incorporate psychodynamic, client-centered, some DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches. My focus I work primarily with people who have symptoms or issues related to trauma, ranging from anxiety and depression to substance use, as well as thought and mood disorders. My communication style I strive to create a calm environment that allows clients to regulate their nervous systems so they can move from a place of safety, authenticity, and joy. My journey to therapy What attracted me to this work and continues to drive me is the desire to create spaces where people feel safe, secure, supported, seen, and heard—so they can go out and create that for others in their lives. My goals for you Clients are in charge of their goals and the pace at which we move. However, I believe in setting people up for success by guiding clients to create realistic goals and timelines, breaking them down into manageable steps, often using visual aids to help track progress. My first session with you I will want to know what you hope to achieve in working together, any past therapy experiences and what worked or didn’t, a brief biopsychosocial history, any symptoms you are experiencing along with their frequency and duration, and I will answer any questions you may have.
