Getting to know Megan Giehl

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY BEFORE BOOKING TO LEARN ABOUT OUT-OF-POCKET FEES & INSURANCE LIMITATIONS :). Hi! I'm Megan. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I work with couples and adult individuals as they navigate their 20s and 30s. These two decades come with both enormous life transitions and subtle shifts: career/career changes, dating/marriage, breakups, parenthood, moving, and more. While these transitions can be exciting and meaningful, I often hear my clients say they feel lost, disconnected from who they used to be, struggle to adjust to their new reality, or feel at odds, disconnected, or have difficulty communicating effectively within their relationships. In our work together, I am an active participant who helps you explore your history, themes, and patterns throughout your life and relationships that may influence where you get stuck. We work to disrupt those patterns and find new ways to cope and thrive amidst the changes. One of my missions as a therapist is to help you connect more compassionately to yourself, your partner, and those around you, as I believe compassion is an agent for meaningful change. I treat all clients with respect, warmth, and openness. You have the choice to attend sessions in person or online. At this time, booking through Zocdoc will only give you access to online therapy, but after our first meeting, we can move to in-person!

What should a new client know about working with you?

While I practice and engage in talk therapy, I enjoy incorporating creative and experiential techniques to help you think more creatively about where you feel stuck. This may include mindfulness practices, writing/artistic activities, the use of imagery, or somatic work. I work in collaboration with my clients and we focus on your strengths and values. With individuals I use a modality of therapy called Lifespan Integration (LI). LI is a mind-body based therapy that gently helps you to heal trauma without re-traumatizing. This model of therapy is useful to strengthen the core of who you are, process through difficult relationships, and allows your body to move safely through the stress cycle of past difficult events. If you're wanting to experience movement in your life, then I highly recommend we incorporate LI into your therapy treatment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you've booked an appointment with me through ZocDoc, you can expect to receive an intake form through ZocDoc requesting that you acknowledge basic information (ie: that you know I am an out-of-network provider, that you live in the state of Colorado, and that you are not a recipient of Medicaid). Please be prepared to fill that out immediately after booking. You can expect to receive an email, phone call, or text message from me between 1-24 hours after booking. In some cases I will be reaching out to verify additional information, others will be to acknowledge that we're set up for our appointment! I'll then send over the paperwork that will need to be signed prior to our appointment. **Please know that when you book a therapy session I am committed to showing up and being present during that time. When I accept your appointment through Zoc Doc, I expect that you will also show up and be present. I require 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule and you will be charged my full fee if the cancelation is not made in that time frame.

In-network insurances

Megan Giehl, LMFT is not in-network with any insurances

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $170 for 50 minutes
Ongoing session: $170-200 for 50 minutes

More information on payments and coverage

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY: I am an out-of-network provider and do NOT accept Insurance or Medicaid/Medicare. *PLEASE NOTE: If you are a recipient of Medicaid, I am not able to accept your appointment request. It is a violation of Medicaid's policy to accept out of pocket payment and puts you at risk of losing your health benefits. Please be sure to find a provider who is in-network with your medicaid insurance plan. If you have private insurance I am also considered an out-of-network provider, but you may chose to see me and pay out of pocket. If your insurance provides partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers, then I can provide you with documentation (monthly superbills) that you can submit to your insurance. Please note: Superbills require that you receive a mental health diagnosis. Check to see if your insurance offers partial reimbursement before meeting your deductible or after. Sessions may be paid with credit/debit HSA or FSA cards. All fees are due at the time of each session: Individual sessions: $170 for 50 minute session Couples sessions: $185 for 50 minute session Family sessions: $200 for 50 minute session (or $230 for 80 minutes) Attending therapy is an investment in yourself! It can be expensive and I want to acknowledge that. You may be curious about the fee per session and I want to be open about what your fee covers. As a clinician the fee you pay go towards: practice insurance, time outside of sessions for planning, documentation and notes, therapy trainings to stay up to date on ethically informed practices, office space, health insurance, supervision, consultation, materials that are used in sessions, retirement and other benefits. I am here to support you in the investment you're making in yourself!

My husband and I have been seeing Megan now for about a year and we are HOOKED. She really has a way of bridging gaps in communication, getting to the root of issues, allowing space for both of us to speak freely without judgment, and connecting broader themes and patterns in our relationship. She is welcoming, kind, transparent, and intuitive. Because of our work with her, my husband and I have grown together exponentially. We owe so much of our successes this year to her guidance and care. I cannot recommend her enough. She is an absolute rare find--exceptionally brilliant at what she does.

I highly recommend working with Megan! My fiancé and I have been seeing her for almost two years now and our relationship has completely changed for the better because of it. She helped us understand that our issues aren't my fault or his fault - the real issue is the cycle that we get stuck in over and over again. We understand each other (and ourselves) so much better now. For us, that resulted in not taking disagreements personally anymore. Now we can quickly put our finger on the problem and move on - arguments that used to last for days now last a few minutes! We're happier than ever. We're so glad we did this - thanks Megan!
Seeing Megan has been exactly what we were looking for for our premarital counselling sessions. She's helped us make sure we're listening to each other, understanding the others' feelings, and given us tools to help communicate in our day to day life. She's able to interpret what we're really feeling and help explain in a way we both understand. We learn something new about our relationship/each other/etc each session. Could not recommend her more!
I highly recommend working with Megan! She is so caring and I can tell she really gets me and understands my experience. She has powerful insights that help me understand myself and my life better! Highly recommend!
Megan is an incredibly skilled and thoughtful therapist who exudes warmth and empathy, and I recommend her to any couple or individual who is seeking extra support through life’s challenges! She will instantly help you feel comfortable with her accepting and compassionate presence, and will be collaborative with you to help you reach your goals throughout your time in therapy with her.
