Psychotherapist

Hi there! My name's Megan, it's nice to meet you! Our world and society can be large contributing factors to our stress; between life stress, relationship stress, and world stress, it's hard to handle it all. I want to help with that. I approach mental health with as much empathy as possible and try to help clients with whatever they're struggling with. I have experience working with a variety of mental health issues. I practice being kind to ourselves as we work to learn how to handle it all and how to put some stuff down. Graduating into the pandemic and my master's program at the University of Denver, where I earned a Master's in International Disaster Psychology, led me to practicing Narrative Therapy approaches. CBT and ACT are great tools to support us, but what's the larger narrative surrounding us? If you've read a book and thought, “If only the protagonist didn't have this roadblock!” my therapeutic approach is: let's explore your “this” and see how we navigate it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I hope you can leave our weekly sessions feeling a little more confident and assured that you can handle what life throws at you, but also knowing you have a safe space to come next week to let those defenses down and keep learning and growing. I use a narrative therapy approach and believe that when we zoom out to look at the context we are living through, we're better able to figure out a plan to make the changes we'd like to.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have a very collaborative approach and will follow your lead for where you want your therapy to go and what topics you'd like to explore. I tend to meet with clients weekly or bi-weekly and we establish the goals we'll be working towards in our first session together.
