Psychotherapist

Couples therapy isn't always easy, but it doesn't have to be joyless. If you're looking for a therapist who can delve into the tough stuff with both compassionate support and the sense of humor it deserves, you've come to the right place. I'm an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with couples of all genders and orientations to improve their relationships. I love helping couples enhance communication and increase intimacy, especially when partners come from different cultural backgrounds and hold different values. I take a trauma-informed approach to support couples struggling with painful experiences in their shared or individual pasts. I wholeheartedly believe couples don't need to be in conflict or crisis to seek therapy and encourage premarital counseling to create shared values and expectations regarding work, finances, intimacy, and family. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute. I am currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. My CA license number is 126134, and I am employed by Stella Nova Psychology, Inc.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A couples therapist isn't a relationship referee, or even a mediator. My goal is to help you build the tools you need to address problems and conflicts as they come up, together. At first, I'll be there to help facilitate the conversation and teach you new strategies for communicating with each other. Over time, you'll become more skilled at navigating these challenges independently with each other.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At the beginning of treatment, you and your partner can expect one or two sessions with all of us, where we'll get to know each other. I'll ask some questions to get to know more about you as a couple, and what's bringing you in to therapy. We'll also have one split session, where each of you has some one-on-one time with me. You'll have the option of taking an in-depth questionnaire (the Gottman Relationship Checkup) that provides a detailed assessment of your relationship's strengths and challenges. When we come back together, we'll have a clearer idea of your needs, goals, and how to get started together.
