Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Melissa! I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s in Counseling from Santa Clara University. I work with adults and specialize in supporting those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress. My approach varies depending on the client. My main approach is Person-Centered, which means my priority is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your life experiences. I also incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness so we can work toward your desired goals in therapy. I have worked with a range of clients, from school-aged children to older adults, supporting individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and trauma. I am a calm presence who listens without judgment and from a place of empathy. My priority is for clients to feel comfortable and safe during sessions. My journey to mental healthcare began in high school when I received therapy for the first time. I had a very positive experience with my therapist, who supported me through a difficult time. Since then, I realized I wanted to give back and support others through some of life’s hardest moments. During our first session, we will discuss your goals for therapy to establish a general direction for our work together. If you are unsure of what you'd like to focus on, we can use the first two to three sessions to reflect on what’s important to you and identify areas of your life you'd like to improve. In that first session, we will also work on building rapport so you feel comfortable opening up.
