Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Melissa! Hi, I’m Dr. Melissa Foley. I specialize in anger management and DBT and have a direct, yet empathetic approach. I provide real therapy for real people, with therapy designed to identify goals and develop real strategies to overcome challenges and move forward in your life. My approach My focus is to help individuals find workable solutions, empower them, and become aware of their inner strengths. I emphasize real-time experiences and encourage individuals to confront and address their challenges head-on. Rather than relying on abstract or indirect methods, direct, real therapy delves into the immediate concerns clients face, allowing for a more immediate and impactful resolution. My focus I typically work with individuals who have failed at therapy before, those searching for a more direct approach, and those who want solutions, not prolonged discussions of what is going wrong. My communication style As mentioned, I am direct, yet empathetic. Accountability is important, but so is flexibility. We will laugh at the absurdities in life and how we handle them—and then promptly figure out how to do better, be better. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a mental health provider was unconventional. I started in the music industry, but after moving from San Diego to Colorado, I struggled to find an office job. Then, the local prison responded to one of my applications, and I jumped at the opportunity. I worked in an office there for a few years and realized while I loved the environment, the office work wasn’t for me. I shifted gears and pursued a career in forensics. I found it fascinating but wanted more autonomy and fewer layers of management. So, I went back to school, earning my clinical degrees to achieve my goals. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to provide the direct, effective therapy I believe in.
