“Melissa is my confidant. I talk to her about EVERYTHING. If I forget to mention something that we have previously discussed she asks me if I want to talk on that particular topic. She listens without judgement. She laughs with me and supports my decisions with gentle suggestions. I feel a weight lifted after every session.”

“I came to Melissa pretty annoyed and a little disgruntled about having to change my provider, I understood it as a negative but she helped me see the positive. I really needed more care than I was receiving and I am so glad I was paired with Melissa. She really hears what I‚Äôm saying when I don‚Äôt say it and her perspective has helped shape alternative views in my life, I feel very validated and supported when we meet and the feeling is so appreciated.”

Getting to know Melissa Henson

My name is Melissa Henson, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and my approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative. Much of my work focuses on helping individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, and relational issues. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from California Lutheran University, which laid the foundation for my trauma-informed, person-centered, and attachment-based approach. Combining clinical skills, spirituality, and relational tools, I offer a safe space for individuals from all walks of life. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who typically face anxiety, depression, relational challenges, and traumatic experiences. I also have the knowledge and experience to assist with substance dependence. I believe a warm, safe, and welcoming environment is vital to success. I strive to create a judgment-free zone where clients can embody their authentic selves without shame. Growing up in a single-parent household, I realized early on that life can be a struggle. However, I also witnessed firsthand that with the support of friends and family, we can embrace our innate resiliency and help others do the same. For therapy to be successful, it is a team effort. Together, we will explore current struggles and identify goals for your future. I will walk alongside and guide you with each step. During our initial sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan addressing your areas of concern. Through our time together, you will gain a better understanding of your challenges and make meaningful progress.
