Getting to know Melissa Patton

Hi there, I'm Melissa! Welcome! My name is Melissa Patton, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University San Marcos. I am passionate about helping others and teaching skills to promote emotional wellness. My approach My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe in a collaborative approach and am here to assist clients in achieving their treatment goals. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and respect. My focus I have worked with system-involved families and foster youth for the past five years. In my time as a clinical social worker, I have been fortunate to learn and grow my expertise in helping individuals with trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions. I have worked with teenagers, young adults, and families. I understand the disruption these challenges can cause and help create a map for moving toward symptom relief, management, and a life of meaning. My communication style A calm and safe environment is crucial to the healing process. My communication style is warm, empathetic, and supportive. I believe transparency and respect enhance the healing that happens in therapy. My journey to mental healthcare What attracted me to becoming a therapist was the ability to help others and use my empathic nature to partner with them in the healing process. Through my years of experience, I have helped people navigate the problems causing dysfunction in their lives and reach their goals. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is collaborative, defining what each client wants to accomplish with therapy. This process begins with your input and establishing trust in our therapeutic relationship.
