Getting to know Melizza Esperanza

Hello, I'm Melizza Esperanza, a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University, dedicated to helping adults on their journey toward healing and growth. I specialize in addressing challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, complex family dynamics, and the stress that may accompany chronic illness or caregiving. You don't have to go through this journey alone; I'm here to provide compassionate, tailored support. Together, we'll explore maladaptive patterns, seeking not only to understand their roots but also to discover new, adaptive patterns and systems that lead to healing and empowerment. My approach combines various modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and elements from EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. I take a trauma-informed, holistic approach, ensuring our work is tailored to your unique needs. Your well-being and growth are my priorities, and I'm excited to embark on this journey of healing and transformation with you. If you're ready to take the next step, please reach out-I'm here to support you on this path of positive change and self-discovery. It's essential to clarify that my expertise is primarily focused on specific areas, and I may not be the best fit for individuals dealing with certain challenges, such as PTSD, severe anxiety, OCD, hoarding, agoraphobia, moderate depression with suicidal thoughts, severe depression, eating disorders, sex-related concerns, intimate partner violence, or stalking. If you require assistance with any of these matters, I can provide recommendations for qualified professionals who specialize in those areas to ensure you receive the best possible care and support.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect a personalized journey in our sessions. We start by getting to know you and exploring your strengths, values, and life experiences that have shaped you. From there, we focus on what you need most, which could include developing embodiment skills, emotional regulation, and addressing cognitive distortions. You'll receive active listening, emotional support, and validation, creating a safe space for your growth. Some common themes explored may include working on boundaries, effective communication and coping skills. Your takeaways depend on your specific needs and goals, ensuring our journey is truly yours.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
