Hi there, I'm Merry!
Hello, I am Merry. Telework counseling has given me a new perspective on working with my clients in a fresh and productive way, offering each one a place to feel safe, be listened to, and be understood. I have been practicing for over 16 years and enjoy the challenges presented to me with enthusiasm and dedication. My clients seem to enjoy our sessions and make progress they can see and feel as soon as possible. There is joy in doing this work for both the client and myself.
I hold a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Northern Illinois University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively.
My approach
I create a therapeutic alliance from our very first meeting, incorporating client-centered, Solution Focused, Cognitive/Dialectical, Habit Forming, and Existential therapies-all delivered with compassionate caring and a person-to-person communication style. This is Integrative Therapy. I am open and easy to talk to, always very honest with my clients, and spend a lot of time analyzing new ways of approaching their problems. Exploring the issues makes my job a service I truly enjoy performing for each of my clients.
My focus
I have enjoyed working with a broad population-anyone over the age of 18, whether male or female. My areas of expertise range from complex life situations involving job-related concerns such as careers and education, to relational issues including dating, marital, family, parenting, and friendships. Other topics might relate to losses or disability, spirituality, and exploration of the meaning of life. Life goals and challenges, as well as quick solutions for immediate issues, are all part of the myriad of combined problems we face daily, which are very approachable through online therapy. My goal is to figure out what a client needs most and offer understanding, tools, and methods that will help them move past the present pain, suffering, or quandary they are facing.
