Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, my name is Michael Beltrano, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I work collaboratively with clients to build on the skills that matter most to them. I have experience working closely with culturally diverse clients aged 5 to 65+, addressing symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, dual diagnosis, BPD, and ADHD. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University, which equipped me with a strong foundation to support individuals and families effectively. My approach is person-centered, focusing on building rapport and trust. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused techniques throughout the therapeutic process. I have worked extensively with clients across the lifespan. With children in elementary, middle, and high school, I use person-centered, play therapy, and emotion-focused interventions. With adults aged 18 to 65+, I apply culturally responsive approaches in hospital and clinical settings to address trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, dual diagnosis, BPD, and ADHD. My communication style is transparent and collaborative. I prioritize clients' needs and feedback to create an open, understanding, and warm environment that fosters growth and healing. My journey to mental healthcare began with a desire to be an elementary school teacher, but I realized I could have a greater impact on children and families as a counselor. After completing teacher credentialing, I pursued graduate school in counseling and marriage and family therapy. Growing up, mental health resources for children and adolescents were limited but deeply needed-becoming a therapist has allowed me to help fill that gap and support others as I once needed support myself.
