Getting to know Michael Brollini

My name is Michael Bollini. I am licensed in California as a marriage and family therapist, with 6 years of experience working with co-occurring mental health and non-mental health disorders. It is my goal to help clients learn alternative self-care activities, utilize coping skills, and apply grounding techniques that support functioning in the present moment. These fundamental elements are important throughout the healing process and can help improve personal growth. My approach I tend to use an eclectic approach to therapy that incorporates modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy. I have worked in residential treatment for 5 years, helping restore functionality to daily living, supporting reunification with family or support systems when possible, and assisting clients in identifying and adapting to appropriate changes to improve quality of life. This process involves understanding deficits that interfere with emotional well-being, recognizing negative thought patterns, and developing the ability to manage day-to-day life using appropriate coping methods. My focus I earned my Master's in Counseling from Argosy University in Orange County, California, graduating in 2016. I began my practicum at the LGBTQ Center in Long Beach and then worked at a transitional living facility primarily serving AB-109 clients (those with suspended sentences reintegrating into society). After graduation, I worked as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at a residential treatment facility addressing substance abuse, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and more. I also treat non-mental health issues such as interpersonal effectiveness, communication skills, phases of life challenges, family conflicts, marital and relationship conflicts, and individual concerns?some known and others explored to gain a better understanding of underlying issues.
