“James D.is one of those people who will do whatever it takes to provide for his clients. He spent double the time scheduled during our 1st session w/him and then offered to meet with us the following day a Sun., bc he felt the need. So many people would not go above and beyond as he has even if they knew it was needed. We also have a unique extra challenge that eliminate us from even working with most therapy platforms and he did not hesitate to accept us as new clients. Thank you James.”

Getting to know Michael Durrigan

Choosing a therapist can be challenging and confusing and one might ask, what does therapy involve? From my experience Therapy involves developing a very special relationship between a professionally licensed practitioner called a therapist and one or more people seeking to collaboratively define and achieve constructive change. This relationship is referred to as the therapeutic bond and is considered one of the most important parts of successful therapy. As such our first step in therapy is, from day one, to form that bond by establishing a trusting, non-shaming environment where any adolescent, person, couple, or family will feel safe and sense the therapist listens, cares, responds appropriately and understands. Therapy on my behalf will involve empathy, genuineness, and mindful acceptance while we collaboratively establish therapeutic changes / goals which you feel are both desired and are ready to work forward and achieve. Our sessions will involve the language of change as perceived by you the client(s), and constructive finding of solutions. You will be able to present your story without fear of rejection dismissal, guilt or shame. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I am very effective with adolescents and young adults, and people working in the stressful world of business, hi tech and active military service members, and veterans. During my time as a therapist, I have built a reputation as a caring, effective therapist who has my client’s best interests at heart. If you feel a connection or that contacting me could be of value, I would be very happy to hear from you. Until such time I wish you the very best in your quest. Sincerely, Mike Michael Durrigan Ca. LMFT (131635)

What should a new client know about working with you?

After our first session you should feel that we are beginning a process of constructive change within a safe, supportive and caring environment. Near the end of our sessions I will check in with you to assure that you, the client(s), feel the therapy had and continues to have value, we are moving in the right direction and plan for any changes we may need to make. This "Client Oriented" process is known to assure that you feel your therapy is of value, we are staying on the right path and is effective.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Two sessions in and Michael already has my wife and I talking through our issues with greater empathy and attention to emotions. He does a really good job of exploring the merit of emotionally-focused therapy and guiding us through exercises in a way that is really illuminating and feels like it has direction. Very satisfied so far!
We went to Mike for couple's counseling. Mike is kind, warm, and very observant, he notices the slightest change of emotions and body language. He provides a safe space for us to express our thoughts and feelings, where we both feel validated, and that allows my partner and I to see each other in positive light. Mike is generous with his time, even provided us an extra session when he saw us in distress. We experienced a breakthrough in our third session and have been communicating better. We're very grateful to Mike and feel that a lot of people could really benefit from his therapy.
