Beginning therapy can feel like a big step and I applaud you for making this effort. Our work together will be collaborative and I respect your input and feedback about how the process fits for you. Therapy is not just an hour-a-week process. We will exchange messages between sessions for feedback and information in order to effectively pursue your goals. My approach I utilize a variety of methods to understand your issues, goals, and strengths. Being primarily a solution-based therapist, I employ a client-centered focus to understand who you are and how to develop steps that will lead to your desired outcome. Based on your needs this includes, appropriate homework, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Goal setting. My focus I work with people ranging from young adults to seniors in their 70’s. Over the course of my 20+ years of experience, I have helped those with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, career difficulties, as well as families and couples dealing with a variety of issues. My approach is open and direct and always considers your sensitivities and needs. My communication style My communication is based on empathy and understanding. I am open and direct in communicating my sense of your conflicts and issues, and will provide honest and respectful feedback as we work together. My journey to mental healthcare My own journey toward therapy began with my own growth and desire to become a better and happier person. Having experienced personal hardships and the need to resolve conflicts, I entered therapy as a client. The experience inspired me to learn more about the process, eventually leading me to the education and training experience the resulted in my becoming a licensed therapist. I know what it feels like to be in the client’s position and I approach each session with that context in mind.
