Getting to know Michael Whiteside

Are you tired of just surviving through life? Do you miss the joy of fulfillment or the freedom of fully embracing all that life has for you? Do you miss being able to just be you? I am here for you and with you. My name is Michael Whiteside, and I am a compassionate, communal, and comedic Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University, Bloomington. I am dedicated to helping others regain control of their life and live life to the fullest. Together, we will partner in helping you create a life worth living by understanding how the pain of the past is interrupting the present and jeopardizing the future. Pain looks different for everyone. Whether anxiety, depression, racial trauma, life transitions, or racial identity challenges, our work begins when you show up. There is no other requirement for therapy with me except that you give yourself permission to be fully engaged in our work. Life has so much more for you. Give yourself back that freedom and let’s get started.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe in collaboration with my clients, after all, you are the expert on your life. I aim to partner with you when providing an individually personalized approach to healing, growth, and the alleviation of hurts, hangups, and heartbreak. Together we will engage in talking, processing, and storytelling to identify how life has hurt you as well as how you want to heal from that hurt. Our therapy is a safe space to rediscover all of you and embrace yourself fully. It is an opportunity to explore how you feel, heal from traumas, and define who you want to be as a person.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

He asks all the right questions to really get to the root of your problems. He’s very great at helping yourself realize your own problems and what steps can be taken to solve it. Love the self-awareness he brings to the sessions.
He is such a very good person! He makes you feel heard and comfortable when speaking about situations. He definitely helps me walk through situations and I always leave my sessions feeling immensely better.
He challenges my negative thought patterns
I looked high and low for a Marriage counseling. Someone who had similar beliefs as us, someone who had just graduated, someone with at least a little experience in their feud, someone who understood what marriage was like from a personal standpoint. I got a list from my insurance, I searched the internet for months without any luck. Marriage counseling was my last option to try and find peace in my home! Finally I did a consultation with Michael and right away I new my husband would connect well with him. I could tell by our conversation that he had some experience, he seemed to enjoy what he does and he seemed to be an intelligent man. After 9 seasons he has helped remind me why I got married to my husband in the first place, and I now have more of a desire to fight stay in this marriage. Some times I feel like nothing has changed, but I know this is going to take some time. Michael has definitely given us hope.
Michael Whiteside has been wonderfully patient, gentle, and has led me to look at things from different points of view that I wasn't necessarily considering. He has stuck around and changed my life for the better. I wholeheartedly recommend him!!!!!
