Getting to know Michelle Doucette

Hi, my name is Michelle Doucette, LMFT. I take a strengths-based, motivational approach with my clients to meet them where they are and help them achieve their desired goals. I use this approach with those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and adjustment challenges. My modalities include Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and several others to help my clients manage their moods, reduce anxiety and depression, and cope with stress. I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment issues, relationship problems, parenting concerns, and life changes. I strive to make therapy a safe and comfortable environment where clients can freely express their needs, concerns, and struggles without fear of judgment. I aim to make sessions relaxed and engaging, adjusting my style to meet each client's individual needs. My journey to therapy began in high school when I joined a pilot Peer Helping program. There, I learned how to be supportive and a good listener to peers needing extra support, which sparked my desire to become a therapist. I enjoy helping others create a safe space where they can be open about their needs to achieve their goals and live their best possible life. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University and my Bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge. I work with clients to explore and identify realistic, achievable goals and help develop a clear path to reach them. In our first session, we will focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, your desired goals, current symptoms, and some historical information to better tailor your therapeutic experience.
