Michelle Edwards, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Michelle Payton, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Fullerton. My passion is helping clients overcome anxiety and depression by understanding the root of these emotions and working through trauma, big or small. As a therapist and certified personal trainer, I work with clients interested in the mind-body health connection and motivated for change. My approach I use a client-centered, integrative approach, utilizing evidence-based therapies to customize treatment. These include Seeking Safety, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), TF-CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Logotherapy, and mindfulness-based methods. My focus I specialize in anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma/PTSD, and identity issues, including LGBTQI+ concerns. With seven years as a certified personal trainer, I integrate physical and mental health and work with clients on food, diet, or weight-related issues. I have experience in Correctional Mental Health Facilities, outpatient settings, schools, and residential treatment centers. My communication style I provide a non-judgmental, supportive environment where you feel safe to disclose and work collaboratively on solutions. I am kind and compassionate but also willing to push you out of your comfort zone. My focus is empowerment—to help you live your truest, most fulfilled life. My journey to therapy My first exposure was when my older brother took a psychology class in high school and brought dream interpretation to the dinner table. I was fascinated by the brain’s ability to create stories we find meaning in.
