Getting to know Michelle Giguere

I gained extensive experience with the full spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses while working for five years at a locked inpatient psychiatric hospital, including 2.5 years on the most acute locked unit and two years in the outpatient PHP/IOP department, as well as with the Military Residential Treatment department. Since 2020, I have worked at a residential treatment center while building my private practice. I am currently contracted part-time at this center to provide EMDR, Somatic Therapy, and Reiki as a trauma therapist. Although working with trauma is my passion, I gravitate toward Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, Gestalt, CBT, Gottman, and mindfulness-based techniques. A significant portion of my practice blends resourcing, grounding, body awareness, and mapping of emotional experiences. My dedication to treating trauma has guided me to pursue additional training in somatic psychotherapy and EMDR treatment. I primarily work with adult individual women, men, couples, and gender-fluid identifiers aged 18 and older. I am deeply committed to working with diverse ethnicities, disenfranchised individuals, and members of the LGBTQ community. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, Santa Barbara, which has further enriched my clinical skills and approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is informed by a client-first, heart centered curiosity embarking on a journey together with open, non-judgmental, exploration. I'm trained in somatic therapy, EMDR, CBT and (hands-off) Reiki to help increase awareness of your internal landscape and reduce overwhelming thoughts, sensations and emotions. These techniques offer tangible ways (in session and between sessions) to calm the nervous system, promote innate healing and help restore connection that is grounded and centered with embodied trust in yourself.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
