Getting to know Dr. Michelle King

I am Michelle King, JD, LPC-S, a Licensed Professional Counselor and legal consultant with 13 years of experience working with adults and adolescents individually and in groups. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, which laid the foundation for my work in diverse settings such as inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs, residential treatment centers, juvenile justice facilities, colleges, and adult forensics. My approach Cognitive-behavioral therapy has demonstrated significant success in research across various disorders, from phobias to anxiety to depression. It is one of the few empirically validated therapies available today. While it may not work for everyone, it’s certainly worth your effort to give it a try. My focus I typically work with adults, couples, first responders, athletes, executives, and college students. Whether you’re dealing with work stress, depression, anxiety, ADHD, adjusting to life transitions, LGBTQ+ concerns, or pre/post-surgical counseling, I offer brief, solution-focused treatment tailored to your needs. My communication style I combine empathy and compassion with a direct and straightforward approach. Together, we can challenge negative, ineffective thoughts and patterns to bring positive change to your life. My journey to therapy I was drawn to psychology as more people sought my advice and counsel growing up. I look forward to helping others become their best selves through brief, solution-focused treatment. My goals for you Goals are important for everyone, whether in therapy or not. They help you navigate life—whether personal, professional, replacing a bad habit, or achieving success. Research shows therapy is more effective when guided by clear goals. Setting goals also helps me better understand your growth as you progress through therapy.
