Michelle Miller, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Tampa, Florida, with over 20 years of experience working with adults and teens. I hold a Master's degree in Psychology from Marist University. While I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I draw from a variety of therapeutic tools depending on what each client needs. My approach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most common modality I use, but my approach varies based on the individual. Some clients benefit more from behavioral techniques, while others respond better to psychodynamic methods or other styles. I let my clients guide the process to find the approach that best fits their unique needs. My focus I typically work with clients facing life stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, and coping with life changes. My focus is on helping clients accept what they cannot change, improve coping skills for those challenges, and strengthen their ability to manage what they can control-such as their reactions to triggers and stressors. My communication style I strive to create a warm, accepting environment where clients feel safe and validated. Early on, my primary focus is active listening, ensuring clients feel heard and understood throughout their journey. My journey to mental healthcare I first became interested in therapy during my senior year of high school. I've always had a knack for listening and supporting others, and after taking my first psychology class, I knew this was my path. Though I've worked in other areas of the field, therapy has always been where my heart lies. It's an honor and a rewarding experience to be part of someone's journey toward becoming their best self. My goals for you Therapy goals should always be set by the client. My role is to help articulate those goals in measurable ways so we can track progress together over time.
