Michelle Pereira, MS

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Michelle! Hello, my name is Michelle. I am a US Navy veteran and a licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with many years of experience in various healthcare settings. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, which has enriched my ability to provide effective care. My diverse background has given me valuable insights that contribute to my eclectic approach to therapy. My approach My therapeutic approach is client-centered, solution-focused, and existential. As Irvin Yalom stated, "It is the relationship that heals." I believe the authenticity and foundation of the relationships therapists build with clients make therapy real. Trust is everything-it allows clients to feel comfortable opening up to a stranger who has already learned much about them before their first session. I meet clients where they are with empathy, authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and open-mindedness. This enables me to guide them through concerns about past and present trauma and inspire them to become their best selves. My focus I have worked with clients from all walks of life. Whether diagnosed with bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, OCD, ODD, anger management issues, attachment challenges, addiction, trauma, or going through a divorce, my approach remains consistent. I focus on building a trusting relationship so clients feel safe to open up. Together, we work through challenges, always considering the person as a whole. My communication style My communication style is assertive yet compassionate. I regularly check in with clients to ensure the therapy pace feels right and to see if they want to slow down or explore deeper layers of their work. I make sure clients know they are in control, safe, and that our sessions are confidential.
