Getting to know Michelle Vernon

Hi there and welcome! My name is Michelle, and I'm glad you found your way here. Life has a way of introducing anxiety, stress, trauma, and grief when we least expect it, and I'm here to help support you in returning to a place where you feel empowered, self-aware, and safe. As a client-centered therapist, I believe we all have the capacity to be self-healers. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from National University in San Diego and have worked in several realms of healing and medicine for more than 10 years. I approach my therapeutic connections with warmth and curiosity and lovingly encourage you to come as you are. My goal is to know you, not change you, and support whichever problems you feel ready to address with a transparent and authentic presence. We will work toward your goals using trauma-informed care, mindfulness, CBT/DBT, and Gestalt therapy, with plenty of education along the way. I believe regular feedback is important to see what patterns are running the show on a subconscious level. I have experience working with adults, teens, groups, couples, families, and first responders and military personnel in managing struggles that come with depression, anxiety, panic, trauma, addiction, self-acceptance and identity challenges, grief, adjustment issues, interpersonal concerns, and women's, LGBTQIA+, or BIPOC issues. I believe everyone deserves the chance to live their lives in their truest form, with care, respect, and self-empowerment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to help establish a clear path forward, including making sense of where you're stuck in the present. We'll discuss whatever problems you feel ready to tackle, until you build the confidence to tackle them on your own. I operate from a place of transparency and encourage you ask plenty of questions along the way!

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
