“Mikayla has been fantastic. She listens extremely well and was the first therapist I've ever had who takes my concerns seriously and helps me develop a plan to address them. Prior to finding her, I had had been to a number of therapists, all of which were very disappointing. Mikayla has made therapy not only engaging, but deeply effective and tailored to my needs.”

Getting to know Mikayla Bugh

Hi there, I'm Mikayla! My name is Mikayla Bugh, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Waco, Texas. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. It is my passion to walk alongside people in their suffering and help them find hope and healing. I work with individuals 13 and older struggling with issues including depression, anxiety, family of origin challenges, and trauma. My approach I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral techniques to help clients change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors to cultivate a holistically healthy lifestyle. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy for efficient resolution of trauma and mood disorders. My focus I work with individuals ages 13 and older facing a wide range of challenges. I have the most experience with adolescents and young adults dealing with depression, anxiety, OCD, family issues, self-worth, self-harm and suicidality, and trauma. My communication style I take a gentle and empathetic approach in sessions. It is my goal to help each client feel seen, heard, and safe because counseling is a vulnerable position. I focus on building a comfortable relationship so clients feel safe to be real. My journey to therapy I became a counselor because I noticed many hurting people around me and longed to make a difference. As a Christian, I believe Jesus redeems our suffering for His glory and our good, and this belief drives me in every session, giving me hope even when hearing the darkest stories. I strive to love and care for each client deeply so they can share this hope for healing. My goals for you I believe it is my job as your counselor to help you determine your own goals and work toward progress in your own way. My goal is to help you achieve whatever healthy lifestyle you are longing for, and I hope to work together to accomplish this.
